El grupo fue fundado por Tanya Saracho y Coya Paz y esta presentando actualmente la obra "Generic Latina"No dejen de apoyar este naciente grupo con su presencia.

is back...for a special
"Día De Las Madres" Week!Teatro Luna is bringing back a special run of GENERIC LATINA to benefit their New York Trip to INTAR Hispanic American Theater in New York City. The Ensemble, comprised of 10 Latinas, has been invited to develop a new work in the style of their current original collaboration, GENERIC LATINA. They will spend the entire month of June in New York City, at the prestigious INTAR New Works Festival, developing a new series of pieces on the experience of being Latina. The workshop will culminate into a weekend of performances (at INTAR's Off-Broadway Space) June 29, 30 and July 1st. The
yet-untitled production will be brought back to Chicago for a fall run.

GENERIC LATINAGeneric Latina is an original work by Teatro Luna Chicago's first
all-Latina/Hispana theatre ensemble.
Based on our life stories and family histories, Generic Latina is a
humorous challenge to audiences to look beyond the popular
stereotypes of Latina women.From a young woman struggling with the question Am I black or am I white?, to a Cuban mother trying to explain the difference between an immigrant and a refugee to her American born daughter, to a sorority girl's terrorist tactics, Generic Latina presents the stories of Latina women with honesty, insight, and humor.
Sometimes poignant, often funny,and always true-to-life, Teatro Luna offers Chicago theatre a unique look at Latinas.

El Teatro Luna es una compañía teatral organizada con el propósito
de explorar las experiencias y la cultura de la mujer Latina/Hispana; demostrar el talento creativo de artistas Latina/Hispana; proveer un Ámbito de discusión sobre la sociedad, la política, la educación, y la cultura para nuestras comunidades.El TeatroLuna se forma después de muchas conversaciones con
distintas artistas Latina/Hispana. Habia un descontento y desilusión con los diferentes roles para mujeres Latinas en la comunidad teatral de Chicago. Muchas de nosotras tuvimos experiencias similares: nos pedían que interpretáramos personajes estereotipados que a veces llegaban a ser ofensivos y deliminatorios. También nos preocupaba que los pocos papeles que fueran escritos para Latinas fueran actuados por actrices que no lo eran. Teníamos que hacer algo ¿pero que? Nuestra respuesta fue formar El Teatro Luna.
Durante los últimos siete meses hemos trabajado juntas para desarrollar una series de ¨probaditas¨- pequeñas interpretaciones que exploran los temas de la identidad Latina, el vivir con dos culturas y nuestras relaciones dentro de, y fuera de nuestras comunidades. Algunas veces frontal, otras veces cómica, y siempre verdaderas, El Teatro Luna se destaca entre los demás teatros de Chicago por su representación verídica de la mujer Latina.Para mas información..........Tanya Saracho 773-975-8985
